Low Production Well
What is a Low Production Well?
A low production well is a well that produces less than 5 gallons per minute and cannot sustain the daily needs of the household.
Why is it bad?
Every household needs a certain amount of water to operate normally. How many people are in your home, how many bathrooms you have, and other factors such as laundry or even gardening can be effected by a low production well. Not having the quantity of water you need for your home can not only effect your standard of living, but may even effect the value of your home whether you are buying or selling.
How do I know I have a Low Production Well?
- If you've lived in your home you may have already experienced the frustration that comes with running out of water.
- If you are purchasing a home, the flow test done as part of the process, should tell you exactly what the flow rating is on your well. Wells with less than 5 gallons per minute are generally considered low production wells.
- If you aren't sure you have a low production well, give us a call and we can discuss other warning signs and symptoms of low production.
What are some Low Production Well solutions?
If your well produces at least a half a gallon per minute, or at least 200 gallons per day, a ridgid or collapsible storage tank is the best method for water management and distribution. With our MaxWater System your well's production is augmented with storage tanks which allow you to use your household appliances normally while your well supplies water at it's available rate. Maintenance on the MaxWater system only requires that you clean and disinfect once a year. Additionally, you can easily add on other water treatment and filtration systems to make sure your water quality is at its best. For example, placing a filter before your tanks or a water softener after your tanks may be a good idea depending on the quality of the water coming from your well. Be sure to consult WaterPro before you install systems before or after tanks to ensure the best system performance.
