What are Cysts and Microorganisms?
Common cysts and microorganisms in drinking water are Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum. Giardia causes giardiasis, also known as Beaver Fever
in Alaska, and cryptosporidium causes what is called cryptosporidiosis. These are microscopic protozoa that cannot be seen and cannot be killed with
chlorination.
Why are they bad?
Illnesses such as giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis can range in severity from a really bad weekend to major dehydration and hospitalization. Medical
treatment is usually required to eliminate them from you body.
